U.S. Reports 71,000 Drug Overdose Deaths in 2019

The Associated Press reported on July 15 that nearly 71,000 Americans died of drug overdoses in 2019, with fentanyl and similar synthetic opioids accounting for more than half, according to preliminary data released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
