HARRISBURG, June 21, 2018 – The U.S. Census Bureau released today its 2017 Population Estimates by Age, Sex, Race, and Hispanic Origin. Pennsylvania’s populations with the highest percent change include:
55 years and older (+14.2%)
Non-Hispanic Asian (+28.9%)
Hispanic or Latino (+30.7%)
Nearly one-third (32.0%) of all Pennsylvanians were 55 years or older in 2017 – up from 28.2% in 2010. The median age of the state increased from 40.1 years in 2010 to 40.7 years in 2017. Forty-eight of Pennsylvania’s counties experienced an increase of 10% or more in their 55+ population from 2010 to 2017.
