The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) published a final rule detailing updates to the Increasing Organ Transplant Access (IOTA) Model, an alternative payment model designed to increase access to kidney transplants for patients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD).
The finalized changes address guidance regarding participant eligibility, risk adjustment methodology, and transparency for the second year of the model. The changes are effective beginning July 1, 2026.
